Green Fingers and Fresh Air: Residents at Bodawen Nursing Home Embrace Gardening
Residents at Bodawen Nursing Home have been busy as they enjoyed a series of gardening activities designed to bring joy, creativity, and a connection to nature.
The experience began with an exciting trip to a local garden centre, where residents had the chance to browse, choose, and discuss which flowers would brighten up the home’s garden. With a shared love for colour and beauty, they selected a vibrant mix of blooms, ready to be planted and enjoyed throughout the summer months.
Back at the home, the gardening continued outdoors as residents planted their chosen flowers, transforming the garden into a cheerful and fragrant retreat. They were joined by the home's much-loved companion, Poppy the dog, who happily offered encouragement and wagging-tail support.
Inside the conservatory, residents also took part in planting a selection of vegetables, including squash, sweetcorn, and carrots. The highlight of their efforts came full circle when the home’s freshly grown carrots were harvested and used in a hearty cottage pie, lovingly prepared by the kitchen team.
Bodawen Nursing Home continues to provide enriching and purposeful activities that support wellbeing, independence, and joy for all residents.
