Joyful Welsh Folk Music in Bodawen

Residents of Bodawen Nursing Home were treated to an afternoon of toe-tapping tunes and heartwarming harmonies as local folk duo Celt and Roger brought their lively Welsh folk music to the home’s community room.

Armed with a guitar, an accordion, and a shared love for traditional melodies, Celt and Roger filled the space with the spirit of Wales, performing classic folk songs and cherished ballads. The performance wasn’t just a concert—it was a celebration of music, memory, and togetherness.

What made the event truly special was the duo’s decision to take live song requests from the residents. With songs like “Calon Lân” being played, the room echoed with laughter and song as the audience joined in, singing along with smiles on their faces.

“It was absolutely wonderful,” said Helen, a longtime resident and former choir singer. The event was part of an ongoing effort by Bodawen to bring enriching cultural experiences to its residents. Activities Coordinator Elin shared, “Music has a powerful way of reaching people, especially familiar songs that carry personal meaning. Celt and Roger didn’t just perform—they connected with each and every person in the room.”

The nursing home hopes to welcome Celt and Roger back for another visit in the near future.
