Autumn Reflections and Gratitude at Bodawen Nursing Home
Residents at Bodawen Nursing Home recently embraced the autumn season through a thoughtful and engaging activity focused on gratitude, reflection and the senses.
As part of the activity, residents created a “Gratitude Tree,” making and colouring autumn leaves before writing down what they are thankful for. The completed leaves were then displayed on the tree in the lounge, allowing all residents to enjoy and reflect on the messages — including those who were unable to take part directly in the activity.
To further celebrate the season, an autumn sensory box was also created using natural items such as leaves, acorns and other autumnal treasures. These were collected by residents during a gentle walk, providing an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and changing colours of the season. The sensory box allowed residents to explore different textures, sights and smells associated with autumn, encouraging reminiscence and conversation.
Staff at Bodawen Nursing Home noted the positive impact the activities had on residents’ wellbeing, promoting creativity, mindfulness and a sense of connection. The autumn display has since become a focal point in the lounge, bringing warmth and seasonal colour to the home.
Bodawen Nursing Home continues to offer meaningful activities that support emotional wellbeing and ensure every resident can take part in shared experiences, whatever their abilities.
